What's the story behind your latest book?
I wrote the original draft for When You Wish Upon a Demon years ago, but I was too afraid to keep working on it. I thought I was a terrible writer and should give up before I had even started.
When I realised that was crazy talk, I decided to start with something small to make it easier on myself so I published The NecroDancer, which is a short story. Once that was done, I went back to my old draft and realised.... it really WAS bad! But I deleted stuff, tweaked stuff, changed stuff and improved stuff until I thought I had something to work with. Then I did that another thousand times!
What's the best thing about being an author?
It is perfectly reasonable to snuggle my dog at work, drink coffee all day, and take as many "yoga breaks" as I want.
