John Archievald Gotera

I was born and raised in San Francisco, CA. I'm a spiritual person who enjoys hiking, meditating, cooking, weightlifting, healthy-eating, and yoga. I'm always adventurous in a sense of discovering new hobbies & interests.

I look back at all the poems I have written and appreciate the evolution of my writing style and techniques. Prior to winter 2006, I had little interest in poetry until a few, interesting events weaved together. These few incidents guided to me poetry as an outlet to my many burstful emotions longing for a steam of release. As a result, I ended up writing about over half of the material in less than a week's time which debuted in my first poetry compilation, Misty Dawn Road.

These days I continue to write poems. And I've dared myself to venture my way into creating short stories.

Smashwords Interview

What's the story behind your latest book?
One Flesh, One Bad Costume is about exuding true confidence regardless of your background, race, age, social status, gender identity, gender orientation. I did put emphasis on this e-book of my nature as an introvert. There were times when I craved being around all my friends to party with. And then the day after, I feel exhausted from the social life and wished to be left alone: I just wanted to be a hermit crab doing meditation under the bed sheets with my dog. I felt confused and left other people perplexed as well. But really, over the years I realized that this is how I am and that it is completely normal for me and many others to be this way. Life is about self-discovery. Everybody is different, but everybody deserves a chance in life. I just want to reach out to every confused introvert and tell them that it's okay to shy away and hide at times as I want to tell every ignorant extrovert that we introverts need some space at times. Life is about finding your own happiness. Be yourself. You have only one shot in this lfe, one body, one flesh, and one bad ass costume, so don't waste it! Live life accordingly to your own happiness. Be confident. Everything is going to be okay.
