Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
It was a hack n slash adventure I wrote at age 12 or 13, full of derivative content and cardboard characters. In fact it sucked. Sucked bad.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
My younger self was playing paper and pen Dungeons & Dragons (I still have a horde of 1st Edition module and rule books I pull out on occasion for old-school reading pleasure) but in my 40s I'm obsessed with open-world video games (e.g., Fallout, Skyrim). I also love growing vegetables--quite a peaceful way to spend a spring day setting up the plot.
