Rural Australia was the setting for John D'Mille's youth, education and early working life as a carpenter's trainee. He has worked as a teacher and academic tutor. But D'Mille's life has had many changes in direction, driven by successive physical calamities. Early fascination with history and especially ancient Roman law has been a significant interest that culminated in a doctoral thesis on development of legal concepts and principles. In time, physical mobility became challenging. D'Mille turned to writing poetry and short stories.
'Slave of Mickle Fortune' is his first published novel. Others are in the making. There is also a dozen short stories that will be published as a book and individually in e-book format.
