John W. Twilley attended Oklahoma State University and Central State University. He served in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War in computer operations. After his honorable discharge, he became a junior research scientist at Pan American Petroleum Corporation. While working there, he married Jeanne G. Gundermann, who graduated from OU, and became a microbiologist with the VA Hospital. They are the proud parents of six children, three girls and three boys. He became a computer scientist processing seismic records for Data Computing Corporation and Central Exploration. It was during a particularly bad day at the office that he decided to quit his job and start writing science fiction. He became a real estate agent, and eventually was a broker, before their house burned. During this time he moved his family to the country. He is now writing full time.
