Born in Huntingdon in 1962, Johnny spent his childhood in the small Bedfordshire village of Thurleigh. At the age of 16 he embarked upon a career within the Royal Navy, where he trained as an aircraft engineer. During his 25 year service as a helicopter mechanic he was actively involved in the Falklands conflict in 1982, serving on-board the aircraft carrier H.M.S. Invincible. Post service life he spent a further 10 years employed within the helicopter maintenance industry, until in 2013 he decided to break his ties with the aviation world to embark upon a solo career as a self-employed gardener. Residing in the Cornish town of Helston since 1979, he is the father of two children; Jack 21 and Holly 18.
