Joscelyn Anne Hayes

Interested in all things relating to transgender.

After having finished the fifth chapter of my transition biography that I called "A Learning Experience", I realized it has very much matched its title, because I have learned so much after writing these simple pages of text. It describes all of the wild and crazy things that surrounded my 'coming out' while in college as well as planning for my sex change.

A couple months ago, I was slightly distracted with my very first fictional story. Something fun that started as a challenge to see how romantically a Dom and her 'sub' could become involved. "Mistress Maggie" contains Love, Trust, Spirituality, and all of those things one might find in a romance novel, but just a little bit different, as it all occurs within the S&M community.

So now that 'Maggie's' done, I'm finishing the sixth chapter of ALE. I have tried to give back here a little bit for all the beautiful transgender stories I have enjoyed so much and hope that this is as interesting for you to read as it was for me to live.

The answer to the inevitable question about the photo on here is YES, but it was taken in 1975 - about a year into college, aged 19, and right around the time my stories are written about. I went to school with a photographer who shall remain nameless here, but who’s now pretty well known. I was his first, maybe even his only, TG he ever used as a model and I gave him a heck of a hard time! Because I had just begun HRT (hormone replacement), I didn't want anyone to see my front, since “things” hadn't really developed yet, so the only shot I let him put in his portfolio for his class grade was the one of me from the back and it’s the only really good picture I have of myself from those days. He was so pissed that I would restrict his creativity, that he called the picture 'cold shoulder', LOL!

Smashwords Interview

What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Love telling stories, real or imagined. I've been doing it since I was 4 or 5, I'd constantly be coming up with background stories for my family's entertainment on trips, etc. But my greatest joy is letting those currently questioning their gender know that they are NOT alone. To show them there are others that want to share the pain they went through in order that they may understand themselves, even a little better than before. When I get feedback from such a reader, when I realize my writing made a real connection with them... it just doesn't get any better than that!
What are you working on next?
I'm going back to my Bio in hopes of completing it soon, maybe 2-3 chapters before I will reach the end of that initial "learning period" of my life. Chapter six is almost complete.

One of the best romance writers on the planet, and just so happens to write about transgendered and intersexed individuals. Having been a stray cat for most of my adult life I can relate easily to the interactions of the major characters... its like going home. :) Cheers! Josie
