James Feasel

My Name is James Feasel. I am a lifelong Hoosier and a regular guy with many of the same hobbies that regular guys pursue. The majority of my hobbies are outdoor related. I believe the only things greater than nature are family, friends and pets.
My Boney Girl is my first book filled with thoughts and expressions only a cat lover can understand.

Smashwords Interview

What's the story behind your latest book?
This is my first book. I really did not know I was going to write a book. When my Boney Girl died, I could not quit thinking about her. She had been gone 200 days when I picked up a pencil and a notebook. I was just going to make some notes for myself to help me remember. This was to be just a little self help/grief management exercise. Looking at these random notes, I began to organize them some. Organization led to a few verses of simple poetry. I was pleased how these simple verses expressed much with few words. Over many weeks my paper filled with verses. When I realized I was looking at over 100 verses, I began to think about sharing and how. Researching the how led me to Smashwords. Found out all I needed at Smashwords. Over a few more months I edited and polished until I was happy with what I had put together.
What do you wish the reader to take away from your book?
I want the reader to know there is joy in having a pet cat, and a relationship with a stray is very rewarding. I hope to help others remember the good times shared with their cats. I hope sharing my grief helps others with the grief they have had, are having or will experience. The reader needs to know that our cats go to Heaven, not cat Heaven, but Heaven when they leave our world. They are waiting for us. I also wish to raise awareness of kidney disease in our feline friends.

A stray abandoned cat wandered into my life and chronic kidney disease took her away many years too soon. Adjusting to life without her is a most difficult experience. Many of us know the joys of having a feline companion and the sorrow we feel when their spirit leaves this earth. Expressed in poetry, narration, photos and illustrations, we will share a connection when you read My Boney Girl.

Having seen this incredible mountain and much of the surrounding areas for myself not long ago, added a lot of realism for me as I read this action thriller. Real science, imagination and a very real possibility made it hard for me to put down. Read it all in one day even though I probably should have been doing something else.
