Punish Me, Please Me

Having a hard time with this review and had a hard time with the book itself. I got this because it was the Erotica groups free download for this month. And I'm stubborn enough to keep reading something because I started it. The author states herself that this is a collection of work written over a two year period and are presented in the order they were written. You can clearly see Ms. Zacharias' skill as a written increase with each story. But with the exception of the final story which I actually enjoyed I found the rest of the stories to be very disturbing and very dark. If you like a story with HEA or even a HFN this collection of stories would not be even remotely close. But I ended up giving the book a 3.0 rating. While it was not my cup of tea it was well written and as I said the writing got progressively better as the story went on. But as I finished the whole collection of works some of the conclusion I came too were interesting. This work was not so much a collection of erotic tales but had more the flavor of an intellectual thriller. The lines between victim and abuser seemed to blur and even shift through the story. As I read through the stories I found myself asking who is the real "criminal". The abuser, the almost willing victim, the person who manipulated the situation in the first place, or maybe society and our views as a whole. For this reason despite its dark and disturbing subject matter there was still a pull to think about not so much the actions of the story but the motivations and thoughts behind them. So I wouldn't want to read another collection quite like this one again but it was an interesting mind game anyway.
Very interesting combination of elements make this a great story. You have pretending to be someone else, chance meetings, don't ask-don't tell, best friends, strange families, stalkers, the feds, and the mob. All that and a HEA, too. How can you not be on the edge of your seat.
How can you find better friends then ones who will work hard at bringing you together with the man of your dreams even if you think you're too old for him. Madame Eve does it again in making another perfect match from a 1 Night Stand.
Caleb and Tarken had such a special relationship but with Tarken gone will Caleb be able to let go and move on. I think the fact that he met Adem before made it easier for Caleb to feel again. This is a very emotional story.
Sometimes we forget how the death one person can have such an impact on the ones left behind. Lale is really out of control and her family doesn't know what they can do to stop her downward spiral. But between her SIL and Madame Eve Lale finds what she needs to feel her pain instead of run from it. Would love to be a fly on the wall when she brings a Greek home to meet the family though.
I won this book as a prize in the MM Romance birthday party. Wow, this story is so hot. Jeff has been with Roman for a long time but he loves to fall in love but suddenly Roman has noticed someone else. Dare has run away from his life and is being drawn into this new life. I loved how you really got into both Jeff and Dare's head to see the story from the both the perspective of someone who has lived the lifestyle and someone who doesn't have a clue but seems drawn to the lifestyle. Roman is so much of both men's world but you realize how they are part of his as well. My favorite quote that illustrates this point is found on p127(on my nook)Jeff is thinking, "Surely I created Roman the Master as effectively as he created Jeff the slave, through my ability and willingness to be transparent, to share with him my darkest desires, holding nothing back."
I'll start out by saying the Out of the Dungeon is really very different from the first book in the series. Usually, when a series seems to really deviate from the first book I'm disappointed BUT NOT THIS TIME. This story is focused much more on the emotions and feelings of the characters. This book focus more on Roman but we do get some insight into the other characters as well. There are also lots of twists and turns in this story but you really get to see the process of deciding what is important in a relationship the way you live your kink or the person themselves. This books is very deep and draws you into the characters lives. I'd really love to see one book that sort of wraps things up and lets us know where all the soul searching finally leads.
Carl has always dismissed the BDSM lifestyle but an overheard conversation seems to get his interest. He decides to take up the challenge to try it before he writes about it. James issues the challenge and he's not ever sure if it will be taken. I think both been are surprised by their feelings and reactions to each other. This story was more powerful then I expected. This was a really well written story.
Savi has been on her own she she left her father's house of horrors after being with Damion. The love for her daughter and the memory of the special day have kept her going. But now her peace has been shatter has her father tries to regain control of her and her daughter. She runs to the one person she trusts to help her. She gains not one person but a whole new family that is dedicated to keeping her safe and seeing her heal in more ways than one. Things are touch and go for a while and both Damion and Savi need to find healing and acceptance to move on together. I loved seeing their strength. I appreciated that although Savi was down she was not out. The book shows that she has her own measure of strength and that being with Damion as well as her new family multiplies it instead of diminishes it. Each book in this series brings you deeper into the lives of these special people.
A collection of thoughts from authors about writing and samples from their works. This was a quick peak at a variety of readers for a good cause. I decided I think a bit like a writer because I love to people watch and make up stories for them in my head as well.
