I, Kathleen W. Byrd, grew up in the Central Valley of California, in a small rural town surrounded by farms, ranches and dairies. My upbringing was a bit like living in the fictional town of Mayberry, where everyone knows who you are and what you have been doing. I attended school with the same people, for the most part, from kindergarten through two years at the local Junior College. I also grew up in the very same church where my maternal grandfather served as pastor back in the late 1940’s. While a member of said church, I sang in the choir, with various musical groups and provided the occasional “special music” on a Sunday morning as a soloist. If the doors were open, I was at the church filling one position or the other from Sunday School teacher, to sound technician, to, following my graduation from Bible School, the Single’s Pastor. Yes, I do have my minister’s license, but no, my calling is not to pastor a church.
I believe my calling is to share with people the simple fact that God loves them…period. No matter what we may have done, or, perhaps, not done, God still loves us. Whatever situation or circumstance we may find ourselves in, God is only a whisper away. My goal is to write fictional books based upon the truths found in the Bible and how they can be applied to our everyday lives. If all the reader finds in one of my books is entertainment, then, enjoy! My hope is that the reader will receive encouragement and, by the time they close the book, will understand and believe that God is not mad at them…God IS madly in love with them!
