Kacie Ji

When she’s not writing or sleeping, Kacie can be found discussing plot twists with her cat who usually seems to enjoy being a part of the process. On the days he’s not she usually finds herself wishing there was a way to mainline coffee while she writes, deletes and tweaks until she sees something that makes her smile.

Smashwords Interview

Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
Not sure if this is the first story I ever wrote, but it is the first real story I remember writing. It involved an alternate Earth and unicorns and portals that people had to use to travel between the two. Oh! And princesses that were named after gemstones!
What is your writing process?
I tend to be a pantser. I get an idea, usually an overall plot, first. Then figure out what characters would be interesting to see in that world. Once in a while I'll come up with characters first then the plot. So at any one time I can have dozens of plots and characters dancing around in my head that I mix and match into a story. Once I get them together I sit and write. I'll have plot points that I want to hit and will let the ideas come to me as I write. I've fallen into the self editing trap before so I have learned to just write the first draft quickly and not let myself get too bogged down with editing. Problems can be sorted out on the next round.

When Ava Goddard starts seeing toga clad people that no one else can she quickly jumps to the conclusion that she's a) going crazy or b) she’s always been crazy and only now realising it. But Ava is not only a demigoddess but a child of Jupiter as well which makes her a target. And for one goddess who has been waiting millennia for her chance to take over it's too much of a temptation to resist.
