Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
Not sure if this is the first story I ever wrote, but it is the first real story I remember writing. It involved an alternate Earth and unicorns and portals that people had to use to travel between the two. Oh! And princesses that were named after gemstones!
What is your writing process?
I tend to be a pantser. I get an idea, usually an overall plot, first. Then figure out what characters would be interesting to see in that world. Once in a while I'll come up with characters first then the plot. So at any one time I can have dozens of plots and characters dancing around in my head that I mix and match into a story. Once I get them together I sit and write. I'll have plot points that I want to hit and will let the ideas come to me as I write. I've fallen into the self editing trap before so I have learned to just write the first draft quickly and not let myself get too bogged down with editing. Problems can be sorted out on the next round.
