What interests you about writing erotic romance?
I love to explore women's sexuality, the way we grow and discover new things that make us come alive in the bedroom. There's so much more to great sex than just a handsome guy — although that doesn't hurt, lol. It takes chemistry between the two people, heat, and often my heroine has to learn that it's okay to be one thing in daily life and need something quite different at night. Today, women are poised to break out in so many ways, and the exciting thing is that we can be whatever we want and be multifaceted — we just need the courage to go after it.
When did you first start writing?
I've written my whole life. In elementary school I published my first seafaring adventure — with the help of my mom typing it up and a friend artist creating the pictures. As an adult, I wrote nonfiction for years in my development career for ballet companies in NYC, and then was working on a nonfiction book about autism because we have that in our family. But a few years back, when I was laid up after foot surgery, laying there on very strong pain meds, I wrote a naughty story and it was fun! Then I wrote more and sold them to Sourcebooks. And then I was hooked! (P.S. Guess what? That first one was a fantasy inspired by the absolutely gorgeous surgeon that had operated on me. It's in PLAYING DOCTOR and called, "My Doctor, my husband, and me." He really is that good looking, and even my hubby refers to him as the Hunky Doctor.)
