What age did you start writing and why?
I began writing Freebird around the age of 10 or 11. It was one of those long nights where my brother had his martial arts class and so we were sitting at local Boys & Girls Club where we growing up, I was just sitting there with a pencil and paper. After 20 minutes of thinking in my head of something interesting; I let my creativity run wild.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in two cities. I was born and raised in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina. Later in my life I moved to Montevallo, Alabama and lived there until this last year. Both of those cities have life and culture to them! I can remember being a kid and mom taking us to see parades every year so we would go the same Burger King to get breakfast in Roanoke Rapids. Montevallo is actually a beautiful city plus since its home to Montevallo University, it always some great events going on to be apart of.
