Kathleen Kilgallon

Kathleen Kilgallon loves walking the beach and hiking in the woods, and enjoys the challenge of researching her genealogy and family history, in addition to being a housewife and homeschooling mother of two boys. One is in college, and the other still spends his days with Kathleen, while she patiently teaches him addition, subtraction, nouns, verbs and all kinds of other second grade stuff he doesn't want to learn. In Bloom is her first novel.

Smashwords Interview

What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
The greatest joy of writing for me is crafting a story that I hope others will appreciate and relate to. I try to make my characters as realistic as possible, characters that are just like you and me inside, with the same struggles, the same fears, the same emotions. I also want to create characters that are likable, people I would be friends with myself. I've taken a lot of my own emotions and heart break and put it on the pages. My life obviously isn't exactly like my characters but I've felt those same emotions, like Kindra I was that lonely girl growing up, and I've felt the sting of giving your heart to someone and not having it reciprocated. Pain and heart break are universal, something almost everyone has experienced and can relate to. My heart is literally on those pages.
What do your fans mean to you?
Fans mean so much to me; if I can craft a story that touches someone, and brings them joy, makes them laugh, makes them cry, then I've done my job. If someone's had a bad day and they read my book, and it somehow takes them to another place and they can forget about their troubles for awhile, then again I've done my job.
