Kori D. Miller

Biography

Here's the nitty-gritty: I write sinfully scandalous mysteries for adults, and create memorable adventures for young people. If you love Dr. Who, Sherlock, Star Trek, The Sneetches, Marvin the Martian, and Wonder Woman, then we should talk. I also love people-watching, and creating a storyline and dialogue for what I'm seeing. And, I'd be lying if I said that some of those experiences don't end up in my books. Now for the more official author bio:
Kori Miller is a wife, mother, tea merchant, martial artist, radio host, and writer ... not necessarily in that order! She divides her time unequally between her various roles, and enjoys the challenge -- most of the time. Ms. Miller’s writing has appeared in Fine Lines Literary Journal since 2007. To date, she's authored six books:

My Life in Black and White: a book of experiences, 2011 and 2014
Deadly Sins I: A Dezeray Jackson Mini-Series, 2014
Dante, 2014
Deadly Sins II: A Dezeray Jackson Mini-Series, 2015
Deadly Sins Complete: A Dezeray Jackson Mini-Series, 2015

She’s the host of Back Porch Writer: The show for writers, about writers, and writing on Blog Talk Radio, and edits Kori Miller Writes: The site for creative writers and newbie podcasters.

Kori creates memorable adventures for young and old over at Kori Miller Kid Lit.

Smashwords Interview

Describe your desk
I commandeered our dining room table. It's a large, wood table that seats six. This is just enough room for me to spread out my piles of paper. The kitchen table proved too small, and once in a while, my family likes to eat together. I have an office in another building, but it's too quiet, and the commute! Oy! It takes about 30 seconds to walk over there. Who has time for that?
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in Omaha, NE, and left in my mid-twenties. After traveling a bit, I returned to Nebraska. The cost of living is more than workable, and the job prospects are good (just in case this writing gig doesn't work out.) Really, though, it's a good place to have businesses, and we own two.

You can read the immediate influence being raised in Nebraska had on my writing through my creative non-fiction more than my fiction. Many of my essay topics are race-related.
