An interesting take on an alternate Sherlock Holmes. Not an upper class but poor, being an orphan as opposed to having family, losing his "Watson" and pretty much his life with him. Hope to see more of his adventures in the future. The writing was captivating. I think I read the book in a matter of hours, kept my interest throughout.

I started reading Sci-Fi back in the mid-60's with pulp Sci-Fi stories in serialized forms and fell in love with the genre. This book takes me back to those stories. That being said, this was a thoroughly enjoyable read. It has the slightly larger than life character types from those early Sci-Fi books and keeps you interested in them and their (mis)adventures. All in all, a very enjoyable read and I look forward to finding out how the story plays out in future books in the series.
