Writing since the fourth grade while attending primary school in Kingston, Latoya Wakefield found solace in her pen as she poured her thoughts and feelings onto paper. Ever since, she has done several works of short stories, articles and poems. She has several articles published in high school in a local paper called the Teen Herald. One day she had a dream of a happy-go-lucky caterpillar that could talk and so "Irie" was born. "Irie the Caterpillar" is her first children's book.
A must read Rite of Passage "Irie" is a beautiful children's story about overcoming fear. It brings to light the importance of family support, in helping to overcome obstacles. This story shows in a way a child can understand and an adult can appreciate - that rite of passage, that we all experience.
