Lauren is an author, mother, and book lover, who lives in Brisbane, Australia with her husband, two gorgeous children, and her very big (and very smelly) dog.
What's the story behind your latest book?
I started writing Perfect Lives just after my eldest son was born. I kept seeing all these people on social media who seemed to have these amazing, flawless lives, and I felt incredibly inferior by comparison.
I eventually realised that no one truly has a perfect life, and, not only do we project an airbrushed image of our own lives, as the viewer we push that picture even further and imagine these improbable behind-the-scenes scenarios.
When all we ever see are the highlights, it's easy to think our friends are leading Perfect Lives. But what happens when those perfect veneers begin to crumble?
Perfect Lives is a funny, relatable and at times devastatingly real novel about friendship, jealousy and the fact that people's lives are rarely what they seem.
