Abasiama Lawrence’s love for stories blossomed in primary school, when she began telling her classmates made-up stories of a professor whose zombie creations came to life. She started making little story books when she was a little girl and hasn't been able to keep away from written words ever since. Officially, Jare is her first published play. Unofficially, “The Beautiful Princess” and “The Beautiful Maiden: Wicked Soul” are her first cardboard-wrapped titles.
In October 2020, Abasiama was shortlisted in the African Writers Award, an annual award program of the African Writers Development Trust. Her other works, available for free on the web, are “The Cages You Build”, “Like Dawn” and “The Tea Party”.
Lawrence loves Jesus more than life itself and writes her stories for Him.
She’s working towards becoming a full-time writer in the near future.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in Lagos, the melting pot of Nigeria. It made me aware of life in its most diverse form. Yet my childhood was an idyllic, carefree one
When did you first start writing?
I started writing as a child, before I hit ten years old. I produced my little story books, cover and all!

This book was a breath of fresh air. The unique point of view, every chapter beginning like an interview and flowing into the tone of a letter. It was a wonderful and interesting read.

I have read nearly all your books on Smashwords and I have to say that you are an amazing writer. The stories are captivating and the characters fleshed out. Your mystery books leave me guessing about who's the bad guy! And your historical fiction must have taken so much research because it is painstakingly detailed. God bless you for making these books accessible and taking the time to write them and may He help you write more. Thank you!
