Lesley Donaldson

You deserve to escape with me into worlds that bend the rules of reality! I write across the speculative fiction genres of fantasy, space opera, and horror with compelling characters as your guides.

My bestseller debut, "The Queen’s Viper," was a Semi-Finalist in the 2016 Kindle Book Awards. In this dark blend of Elizabethan and contemporary fantasy, I re-imagine Celtic mythology in Viper, a predatory heroine you'll love to hate or hate to love. In the fast-paced sequel, "The Wrath of Atticus," Viper's memories take her back the Iron Age, when Queen Boudica rebels against invading Romans.

I'm a hybrid author who loves to give my reading community free stories that entertain and inspire. Diversity touches my life in many ways, as is reflected in my writing. I'm also a special needs parent to my son, and an often companionable wife.

Smashwords Interview

Why is writing a joy for you?
I may write worlds of imagination but they feel no less real. That's why when I craft a plot twist, or a new personality introduces itself into my story, I experience a jolt of electric fervor. The momentum of writing, for me, is perpetual. Every idea spins off new ones and there's always a "better" way to push my creative envelope on the horizon. I strive to provide an escape that readers deserve with a talent they'll love.
What does your reading community mean to you?
I adore spec fic readers, from the casual reader to the fandom "passionists." Stories shape who we are and the community we build around ourselves. According to my school-aged report cards, I had "trouble with peers" among classmates. In truth, there were a small number of us for whom acting our fave TV shows at recess was more important than being popular. And it's these kind of people, the ones who embrace creativity and imagination, who are my kin. Having a positive synergy with my reading community is key to being an author, not least of which because they let me know what escape they want to have, and the kinds of characters they want to read about.
