Publisher info

Richard L. Toney is the founder - director of the CN Life Initiative. An African American poet, writer, and inspirational speaker; he presents a growing and emerging voice in Christian writing/ inspirational ministry.

Brother Richard as he's called, writes and speaks with a singular passion "Faith is a natural part of man." He teaches, "People need only learn to exercise what's already inside them. Understand faith, believing and speaking, is a part of man's structure. The power behind what you hear, think, pray (believe) on Sundays - you have to accept it to know/ trust it won't fail."

Through the CN Life Initiative he publishes and instructs believers to pursue their spiritual passions. Take the evidence of your success (frailties (losses) included) and use it! "Put your knowledge to work - Get your faith in action", Brother Richard speaks. "God's people are looking for something that's right in their face. They have to see God's voice, God's vision in the everyday moments of life's experience."

Beyond established beliefs and traditional religious bounds, Brother Richard looks in and searches the Word to center his words. His writings and personal publications, he uses to define the relationship of God with man and man's search for God inside himself. As a speaker and ordained minister, he offers insights and lessons fueled by one thought -
Life seems difficult - but only if you fail to remember.

The truth IS!
Everything else is subject to change.
Trust the Word of God

Smashwords Interview

When did you first start writing?
I begin writing poetry and short stories in High School. Kind of as a way to divert time from boredom between classes. Sometimes, even completely ignoring the teaching that was going on.
What's the story behind your latest book?
Bread for Adversity is something I'd like to think of as the next step in learning about my faith. The collection was brought about due to a trying time in my life. Feeling like there was little to get me thru it, I retreated to what was my first passion reading and writing. It was in this finding or renewal of faith, i decided to share the voice with others. You Can Do all things You Put Your Mind to.
