When did you first start writing?
Actually, I started writing while in high school. At the time my main interest was fan-fiction. This is where I learned the technical side of writing. Back then, it was all about focusing on one particular style of writing or another. Over time, readers started to encourage me, giving me advice to blend writing styles and break rules. Their kindness has largely impacted my personal writing style today. That seems like so long ago now though!
What motivated you to become an indie author?
In my case, the content I’m writing has been a major factor in my motivation. Writing mostly controversial subject matter means largely going it alone, or being outright barred from traditional publishing houses. What mattered more to me was ultimately the stories I wanted to tell. If I couldn’t share these stories going through a traditional publishing house, then why write them at all? I’m a writer, and I will always write and share the stories I have to tell.
