This is a wonderful collection of stories! I was drawn immediately into the minds of the characters and the situations they face. The narrative brilliantly captures mood and mindset, whether the characters are young, old, male, or female, in control or tossed through life. Funny, manipulative, compassionate, bitter - emotions, motives and details are insightfully drawn. The endings of the stories particularly intrigued me, as they suggested or revealed truths that made me think again about how I understood the stories. In this respect, Norma's stories reminded me if the work of Sinclair Ross. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and can't wait for the next collection!
