The whole time I was like "nnnoooooooooo!" Completely freaked me out. Truly scary.

Three short stories that are written with a good proper style, nice scene setting and characters. I was surprised because the narrator has an actual story telling ability that kept me strung along all the way to the end of the 3rd story. The one about ocean was the creepiest and most interesting because I totally bought it with the dive beneath the ice. The second story was told with a cold detachment that scared me to the bones . . . especially the end (a real psycho).

He daydreams about buying a travel trailer and going to national parks with his wife when he gets back to dry land. Suddenly he has to risk his life fighting a gnarly fire on the totally hectic flight deck of a US Navy aircraft carrier. There are too many great one-liners to list but here are a few that stuck with me: - He has travel trailer brochures under his mattress like a younger sailor has girly magazines. - He want's to 'smack the freckles off the cheeks' of a smarty pants kid - The toughest fire figher on the ship is built like a tree trunk - A bad fire with explosions killed one guy who's blackened hip bones were removed from a smashed metal toilet - The captain up on the bridge looks down on the flight deck like it's a board game
