Picture to come...
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
Yes... it is embarrassing. I think I was maybe 8 or so. I can't recall all of the details, but it was like a sci-fi version of a fantasy game. Lots of laser guns, disjointed characters, and the "big bad". A lot of my writing as a kid was either humorous or had an edge of folklore. I was a weird kid. Then again, I became a weird adult.
What do you read for pleasure?
I go through themes. I like fantasy, but I am picky on this front. I'm not into the knight fighting for ye ol' fair maiden (unless it is done in perfect satire). I like old horror, Frankenstein, Dracula, those kind. I also like a lot of Steven King. I enjoy mysteries (Agatha Christie), especially occult mysteries, (Dresden anyone?). My all time favorite genre is still Sci-fi (to many to list people). Then there are novels that are the opposite... dare I say that I do enjoy many of the books by Jane Austin and Little Women.
I am also very strange and I enjoy reading psychology paper from scientific journals, myths and legends, and a few other odds and ends in the non-fiction realm. I tell people that it is for research... sometimes it is... but I am mostly just plain weird.
Benjamin is an affluent member of his fair city. His clockwork soldiers keep it safe from the werewolves that live in the surrounding forest. This protection comes with a hidden price. The elixir needed to power the machines is made from human blood.
