JR Robberts

JR Robberts grew up in Pretoria, South Africa with his grandparents. His passion for writing and all things artistic started from a young age, earliest work was at thirteen with poems published in a special anthology called Taking Flight published by the International Library of Poetry.

"I'm a dreamer. What I write comes from inside, a place so deep that sometimes it is scary but at the same time exciting to see what I am capable of. I know I'm a newbie but writing to me is not about fame or fortune. I'm a story teller and what is important is my voice and how far it carries. If I can touch someone with my words then I am happy. The rest is just a bonus."

Smashwords Interview

Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in Pretoria, South Africa but was not at home most of the time. I was placed in a boarding school from Grade 1 and yes it did influence my writing. I write from experiences and like many other people my past is not a very pleasant one. But it's also important to note that it does not define who I am now, I became a better person and a better writer because of my past.
When did you first start writing?
I started at a young age writing mainly poetry and later on when I went to high school I started playing around with stories but I have always had a vivid imagination and a way with words.
