Louise Mason was born in Essex in 1941. She later moved to Hull where she attended St. Mary's Grammar School. She trained as a teacher in Birmingham in the ‘60s. In 2005 she gained a B.A. in English Literature. Mrs Mason is married with two grown-up children and two grandchildren. She lives with her husband in Lincolnshire.
When Louise meets Tim in 1969 he immediately tells her that he is in the process of divorcing the mother of his two young sons. Once Tim's divorce is finalised and the boys choose to be adopted by their new step-father, Louise and Tim move away and she devotes herself to their own family life and two children.
