I was a high school dropout but wasn’t exactly criminally minded. However, my neighbor, Johnny, who lived in the apartment above me is doing life in prison as a result of one of his cohorts shooting at the cops, as they attempted to rob a bank. There was also Ron, who ran a convenience store below the apartments, who I surmise made well over a million dollars selling cocaine. In the midst of this I just did what I thought I had to do to survive. Hustling and taking chances became a way of life.
After cultivating a very intimidating physique in the gym, I had offers from Mafia-connected people to do harm to people for money. I was approached by drug kingpins, who recognized the ruthlessness that surfaced as my will to survive. They offered me major figures to enforce their drug law. I never obliged. My life experience has qualified me to write this book, which recounts how I was turned off to school by the suppression of my initial gift, athleticism, which blinded any purpose-connected vision.
Saturating many cities in America today drugs and poverty have redefined the culture as hood ‘Ghetto‘. People are perplexed with a choice that blitzkriegs their minds. “Would you rather be judged by 12 or carried by 6?” Kill or be killed is the modern day sink or swim initiative. I was never a thug, but neither would I conform to being a victim. The inquisition that arises from these true life depictions is how did I survive drugs, alcohol, attempted homicide charges, gun violence, and a raid with 50 DEA agents (just to name a few situations I’ve encountered) to become a bestselling author and recording artist without ever having completed a single day of incarceration or sustaining injury? Was it GRACE OR LUCK? YOU CALL IT.
