Describe your desk
I try to work with a clean and tidy desk and almost consistently fail! I use a laptop PC with an attached USB keyboard and mouse to write. My desk is a jumble of other items. These currently include my wallet, iPad, two or three days worth of mail, keys, shaving gel and my CD player.
When did you first start writing?
I was something of an early bloomer and wrote constantly in junior school. As I grew and the day to day pressures of life grew with me, writing faded from my life. Fast forward to the age of 35. I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and spent a month in hospital followed by four months in a Neurological Rehab unit. My hands were completely numb at this time and I was advised to use them constantly to regain feeling. The only way I could think to do this was type but what to write? My first published work, Scared, was published shortly after discharge and was written in my rehab room.
