Mara Kalyn

Biography

Mara fell in love with the written word in the first grade, when she devoured the 'Dick and Jane' books. Not only was she enamored of the stories about their adventures, accompanied by their pets Spot the dog and Puff the cat, but of the bright colors of the illustrations. Thus was born a lifelong love of both the written word and art.
Since then, she has taken classes in both art and creative writing. She was accepted into the Creative Writing program at Concordia University. As with most writers, she worked a day job to pay the bills. Semi-retired now, she is putting her leisure time to good use, rediscovering and honing her skills as an author and as an artist. In keeping with the duality of skills, Mara is keen to produce both romance and mystery novels.
She is excited that in today's world, she can set her own pace and tell the story in as many words as it needs to be told, without the restrictions of traditional paper publication. Mara has many paper books on her library shelves, as well as many ebooks on her virtual shelf. Her greatest joy is to provide her readers with a temporary escape from the inevitable burdens of life and take them deep into their imaginations for a quick getaway.

Smashwords Interview

What is your e-reading device of choice?
I own an ereader, although these days I prefer ereading on my tablet because I get color and I'm addicted to colors.
Describe your desk
Let's just say I strive to pile things up in an orderly fashion. This doesn't prevent frantic searches for that very important note I made on my latest creation. I've got one or two notebooks that I keep handy because I have a memory with many tiny escape hatches in it, so I write things down.
