Maria Mellins

Maria is a Senior Lecturer and researcher in Film and Screen Media at St Mary’s University where she teaches modules on horror film, gothic fashion and screenwriting.

Maria’s fascination with horror and dark fairy tales began in childhood, she grew up reading Point Horror novels and watching as many scary movies as she could sneak past her parents. This interest quickly transformed into a career as Maria completed a PhD exploring the London vampire subculture, which she later adapted into a book entitled Vampire Culture (Bloomsbury, 2013).

Maria has now written her debut novel Returning Eden and is very excited to work on the rest of the series.
