The Christy family farm is about ten miles from where I was born and raised in southeast Kansas. I remember Clara very well. She was my grandmother.
I have always loved to write and Clara's life story has always intrigued me. So, after I retired I decided to write her story so my grandchildren would know that they came from strong pioneer stock. Her warmth nurtured me, her strength and courage inspired me and her moral integrity continues to guide me today.
In 1883 Clara left her home in Indiana and everything she had ever known to go with her young husband and small child to establish a home and raise a family in Kansas. Her strength to face the hardships she encounters there comes from her indomitable spirit, her sense of humor, and her devout faith.
