Marlyn Mohs

Being an In-Home Caregiver for my mother and a Learning Coach for my son (tenth grade) at his online school, I am physically home bound. However, intellectually and spiritually, I’m soaring. Now, I have time to write! Since eighth grade when I first read the Chronicles of Narnia, The Hobbit, and the Lord of the Rings I have wanted to write a sci-fi/fantasy series. I have a combined twenty-eight years of experience in technical writing and the development of course work for K-12; but actually sitting down and writing a novel (the first of a series, no less) was an absolute challenge. I am lost in the world of the Journeymen and I hope my readers will join me there.

Smashwords Interview

What's the story behind your latest book?
My latest book, Journeymen – The Making of Stone Viewer, is the first of a series. This series posits that there are five Earths connected by pathways that only Journeymen may access. The physical features of each planet are relatively the same; but the people, the way of living, the predominant cultures of each Earth have been shaped by the inhabitants and the vast variety of unique choices they made spanning generations. This first story takes place on Earth 4, a planet whose inhabitants prefer the charm and dignity of a simple life and value the skills of survival.

I am concerned when I observe the modern media culture. Children are encouraged repeatedly to engage in adult activities that in my opinion rob them of their youth and innocence. A majority of our lifetime will be spent as adults. Our childhood is fleeting. I wanted to create books that emphasize friendship, family, and good values. I am so excited about this series. I have fallen in love with my characters and they are itching for me continue their story in the next book.
What are you working on next?
I am working on the second book in the series. I was hoping to have some feedback on the first book before I move forward on the second one; but the characters are in control and they are ready to continue their story.
