What is your writing process?
I get inspired by either a subject I am intensely researching due to its relation to my own experience in some way. I like the 'explosion graph method' taught to me by a certain prolific business guru slash chasidic rabbi some years ago. First, write the main idea inside a ping pong ball sized oval drawn on a piece of paper, next, draw spokes away from that main idea, (it would look like a child's depiction of the sun. And then, you guessed it, more ping pong balls on the rays of the sun you just drew with main subpoints about the main idea. Rinse and repeat. The writing part is really a mental riff I have with myself and researching what others have learned about the subject while typing, fleshing out the skeletal framework of idea patterns previously laid out.
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
The first stories I remember that impacted me the most were horror fiction and comic books to be completely honest. I was amazed by the ability of a skilled wordsmith's skill to create a narrative, develop character, and describe things.
