This is such a beautiful novel. The characters are well-developed and it was a joy to witness them become strong and vulnerable in turns as they discover more about themselves and what life has to offer. The story is well-paced, the writing taut or soft as the scenes unfold. I can't wait for more!

Charlotte E. English has an imagination that never quits! Her characters remain well-defined no matter what crazy, magical adventure comes their way. Some of her series are very long, but there is enough refresher/background to keep up. Luckily not too much, though, and just a hint of foreshadowing. Very engaging.

Bad. Stream of consciousness of an average selfish jerk.

I really didn't like this book. Reading it was like watching really bad porn. No story to it, and just random sex that doesn't even seem fun. The writing itself is okay.

This book is essentially a conversation between two women about abortion, the law, and critical thinking. The women are characters from the Bible, Jezebel and Ruth, in the near-future USA. Most people will take the story for what it is. Others will chafe at the idea that giving women freedom and choice just leads to death and destruction of the American Way. Or possibly be offended that neither woman is able to think critically. I do see such a story as a wake-up call: how is it possible, in this day and age, that there are still people demonizing women for having sex or making choices that serve their own long-term self-interest?
