Matthew S. Hart

Matt is a native Marylander, born in Silver Spring in 1967 although he grew up mostly in rural Washington County. His inspiration for story writing came during a cold Baltimore winter over a decade ago when he discovered an old hand drawn map in an equally old storage box. He remembered creating the map as a boy, and so he imagined what sort of world it might depict, and who would live in that world. What began as a hobby, telling the story of a fictional realm, became a mission. Thus was born The Thorn Witch, and from that story, no doubt new adventures are sure to come.

Smashwords Interview

How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
I began writing as a hobby before I knew anything about ePublishing, so when I began to think more seriously about finishing my first novel, a friend told me about Smashwords. This new perspective sparked the entrepreneurial spirit in me and made the prospect of achieving success seem much more attainable.
When did you first start writing?
I probably began writing about twelve years ago, more or less as a hobby.
