Maximus Themad

I grew up in Southern California in LA County for most of my life, I recently moved to the OC (Orange County, California).

I got married pretty young (23) and had a kid right away (whom is now an adult) and unfortunately got divorced right away too. I spent a good number of years working a lot of odd jobs to support my son and get through college. After eleven years of going to school part time, I finally finished my degree in Computer Science.

In high school and in college I was really into writing, I took a lot of creative writing classes and wrote a lot of poetry. I was an editor of my high school's creative writing magazine and so it pains me to read other peoples' work sometimes as I am trained to spot spelling and grammar errors from my year's work on the magazine, however, its hard for me to spot my own errors, (go figure).

I am transitioning my writing from a hobby to my first attempt at making a living at it. I hope that people enjoy my work enough to support my efforts to entertain them. Thank you for your support.

Smashwords Interview

What are your five favorite books, and why?
The Count of Monte Cristo was by far the most engrossing story I ever read. I usually enjoy Science Fiction and Fantasy but this book of an innocent man being persecuted and given a chance at revenge was the most engrossing story I ever read.
The Grapes of Wrath, I read this in high school twice, (I think I was the only one that actually read it all the way through). This story was so great at showing you a snapshot in history, the way it described scenery and how people talk... I loved every bit of it.
All the Drizzt Do Urden novels (by R.A. Salvatore), I was never a big fan of dark elves but Salvatore's characters are so engrossing that I fell in love with each one.
The first 5 or so of the Gor novels (it kind of turned into a BSDM how to novel after awhile and less a story), The Xanth novels by Piers Anthony (and Bio of a Space Tyrant novels)... John Carter series (Edward Rice Burrows)... The list goes on and on. I used to be a voracious reader.
What do you read for pleasure?
I love reading online stories from, there are so many bad stories but finding a lot of gems makes it worth it.
