Smashwords Interview

When did you first start writing?
I've been writing since I first discovered that pencils made marks on paper. I wrote silly poetry, started a comic book production line in the last row of my class room in grade school somewhere about the fourth or fifth grade. Then I started penning and illustrating little stories based mostly on wordplay.

When I was eleven Star Trek happened and I started writing a science fiction novel. In turquoise ink. That smelled like blueberries. Things sort of snowballed from there.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in the Air Force. So that meant wherever my dad was posted. It made me aware of the world in a way I don't think I would have been otherwise. It made diverse cultures fascinating to me and that heavily influenced the things I choose to write about as well as how I approach them.
