Describe your desk
Neat and clean. It is actually a mandarin fruitwood table with a very heavy glass top. There are no drawers. Just a computer, because almost everything is digital, and it is located by a glass window, eight foot tall and wide, which looks directly out on my patio and provides sunlight and warmth for me year round as i write new items. Any working materials are placed on the desk in a neat pile and removed when no longer needed. I like to keep my place neat and clean.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, although I list Halifax as my birthplace. Nova Scotia is a beautiful Canadian province with a great lifestyle and heavily influenced by the Atlantic Ocean weather patterns. Summers are beautiful, although it can be a bit foggy and cloudy from time to time. I had an uncle who always said that there were only two seasons in Dartmouth, summer, and winter. He complained that there was not enough light most of the year, and insisted that the drapes in his house always be left open. This annoyed his wife. I guess that is why i am on the West Coast now, where the weather is a little bit better. The laid back atmosphere of Dartmouth and the province probably explains why my writing style is so casual.
