Biography

When Melanie, a professional online content writer, graphic designer, and author, moved to New Westminster in the 21st century, she was told she'd never leave. She recently moved to Port Cat, only to learn that it was called "Westminster Junction" during the Victorian times. She can never escape! You may find her articles, graphics, photos, and short stories in a lengthy list of publications, so she can’t be bothered to list them all here. (Yahoo, Better Homes & Gardens, Confederacy of Steam Versus Zombies, Zombified: Hazardous Material, Devolution Z, Antipodean Steam Guild Journal, etc. She has published books on Amazon: The Aquaria Chronicles, Just One More Purr, A Collection of Cats, Zombie Survival Club, Karen, and Mayor of Zombtown. She was a writer panelist at VCON 2014; and has been a panelist, volunteer, festival organizer, and proofreader/editor for the Creative Ink Festival since 2016.

What is your writing process?
I generally work on writing projects from 11 am to 6 pm, Monday to Thursday. This is not all spent on actually writing, this includes time editing, proofreading and finding new markets for my stories.
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
I remember reading fairy tales in Grade One. I loved these books and was disappointed to find that the school library did not have the full collection. Today I still enjoy reading new versions of old fairy tales, as well as writing fantasy and science fiction.
