Melvin Ruizvargas

Melvin Ruizvargas was born and raised near the coasts of Puerto Rico. From those tropical shores is where he gets the inspiration to craft his much-loved ocean based teen stories. As a youth, he experienced what it was to live in the streets without any shelter waiting for him at night. Using those experiences as an inspiration, he infuses his tales of rebellious teenagers with attitude and examines the challenges they face on the daily basis.

From a solitary teen with a dream to a professional writer, Melvin has taken a circuitous path, first spending eight years in the military and studying online for his BFA for Creative Writing for Entertainment at Full Sail University in Winter Park, FL. At school, he honed his skills crafting short screenplays in different genres, but with a focus on young adult drama and adventure.

Melvin has expanded his creative outlets to include acting, performing as a background actor in the television series White Collar, in the feature film Runner Runner, and in a Domino's Pizza commercial.
