Mestari Mortenson

Mestari Mortenson is actually a writer duo. Animal-rescuing stay-at-home moms and empaths, their lives are filled with wonder, confusion and frustration, and consequently, fodder for a vast array of philosophical dilemmas as well as creative outlets. The pen name helps these two sisters combat the absolute revulsion they have for self-promotion of any kind. They are simply on a mission to make the world a kinder, more empathetic place. Their main focus is children and how to help them feel connected to each other and all living beings on this planet, regardless of physical form. Diversity and community are strengths that need to be celebrated. We can always find common ground if we want to. Always.

Smashwords Interview

What motivated you to become an indie author?
Passion for compassion.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
Grew up in Scandinavia in northern Europe many moons ago. A small town with very real Viking heritage celebrated and respected its violent past, and school children were taught to read and write runes as early as first and second grade. History was always part of now. This kind of upbringing almost feels fairytale-like so many decades later. The unseen, whatever that may be, was accepted as a normal part of life. Legendary creatures like trolls, fairies, gnomes etc were not completely brushed off as pure fantasy... This taught us to respect and appreciate the point of view of others. Just because one cannot see something, does that necessarily and definitely mean that it isn't there? Does it mean that a child is lying when they claim to see something that we can't? We think not. Anything is possible. Life is a great mystery, and we want to explore it, not just live by someone else's rules just because "it was always like that".
