I am in my fifties and will be retiring in May of 2017 after 36 years of teaching and coaching. The first book "Random Thoughts of A Stupid Man" was published in 2012. My wife of 35 years and I will be moving to Winton, MN after we get our Bed & Breakfast sold in Hibbing, MN. We have two grown children, both married. We also have one grandchild and one due in July. We are loving being grandparents & looking forward to spending more time at the lake!
What do you read for pleasure?
The Newspaper, psychology books, historical accounts, Sports Illustrated, Coaching and Sports Psychology Books.
I have been taken aback by the use of iPads in the classrooms, yet impressed by how adept the students are at using them. There are times though, that I think students waste time searching through topics that don’t enhance learning. I truly hope that students and educators can find a balance and also experience life and learning outside of the cyber world many are addicted to.
Retirement Sucks is the account of my journey as I have attempted to navigate my first couple of years of retirement. I have been slowly making adjustments to this newfound phase in my life. I really don’t know how to grade how I am doing, but I am trying and it is getting better by the day.
"I Still Own A Flip Phone" is the documentation of a year long experiment regarding my ownership and use of a flip phone. The point of the experiment was to see if I should give serious consideration to grading up to a smart phone.
This is my third and maybe last "Random Thoughts of a Stupid Man" book, so I guess that means I have written a trilogy. Once again please enjoy the read as I attempt to include you in my life's journey. If you like this one please go back and check out the other two.
Throughout my 35 years as a teacher and coach, I have always wanted to write a book about this time in the lives of young people. This book is not a success guide, merely a guide with thoughts and ideas that I hope you will mull over and give consideration to. If you find anything that helps you along your path, that's great! It is up to you: SAVE or DELETE?
I guess that is what More Random Thoughts of a Stupid Man is: a sharing of my life and the thoughts that enter my somewhat-demented mind on occasion. I’ll admit, writing those thoughts has become more therapeutic than artful and brings me a deep feeling of comfort.
This is my first attempt at writing a book. I have always been told I tell a pretty good story so I thought I would try to put it to print. I’ve been told I sometimes master making a short story long and I would like to think I can on occasion make a long story short.
