Michaelis Musculus

Biography

Michaelis Musculus was born in Lancashire in 1944. He made it through to become a Mechanical Engineer out of the then Royal College of Advanced Technology, Salford. Work experience, following on from an apprenticeship with A.E.I Ltd., was with Babcocks and Rank Xerox. This enabled him to travel widely, ending up with five kids from two wives, one in England and one in South Africa where he has lived since 1975.
In 1978 he left the corporate world of men in shining serge, and joined his Dutch-born artist wife in the first of what became ten art galleries scattered around South Africa. They published and distributed original art and hand-made prints from Christies in London among others.
Michaelis and his wife sold their business in 2009, since which time they have owned and run a small farm, developed and sold property.
He has now retired to a game farm where all animals, including Africa's big five, roam virtually outside the lodge front door. (They endure no neighbour problems, being situated in a pristine remote reserve).
Michaelis' hobbies include music (a ‘70s folky if ever you saw one). He is a trombone player in a haphazard impromptu band. His other hobbies include building, cooking, sports (rugby, and cricket in the main), travel and putting up with bad friends and cheap whisky, meeting them regularly for lunch, gawping at the world's follies and, of course, telling each other how wonderful they really are.
It's a full life!
