Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in Port Elizabeth, South Africa. My late father owned a furniture/photography/home appliance business, but still wrote articles for newspapers and magazines. He suggested I write a reposte to an article in a national newspaper when I disagreed with the contents. I did, and it was published. I was eleven years old, and that was the start of my writing fixation.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
I became an Indie author after editing a thesis for a PhD student. The thesis was on the publishing industry, and after I read through it, I realized that there were very few opportunities for authors as the industry had changed since the advent of print on demand, the internet, and stores now selling on consignment. The process was just too long and nerve-racking for me!
It took me five months of determined research to figure out how the body loses weight. I found the answer about a month ago. Once I found it, I dropped a pound a day. I started at 170 lbs.I am now 133 lbs. This is not a diet book. It is a book that tells you how the body works. Yes, it tells you about food, about medication, and it gives you data on what you should weigh, and more.
Increasing your luck quotient in life means you get what you want far more quickly and easier than slogging day in and day out. This book explains how to increase your luck by focusing on certain behaviours and methods.
There is much comparison between current events and those of prewar Germany. Werner Schlesinger was first an attorney, then a journalist between 1931 and 1936. First the Brown Shirts removed him from his job as an attorney, then they arrested the editor of the newspaper he worked for. Then they shut down the newspaper and put them in Auschwitz. You decide on the similarities between then and now.
