Monique Wightman

Biography

Monique was 15 when she sat (was tested for) her English 0 Grade (similar to elementary grades in the States) and "attempted" the descriptive essay section. All her English teachers advised her not to go there as descriptive essays were deemed to be tackled by only the exceptionally gifted. Needless to say, she received a rebuff for her attempt and was told to steer clear of descriptive essays when she sat the higher grade. This dented her confidence somewhat so she didn't go there for a long time.

She is in her 50s now and for the past ten years she has written songs, short stories and some poetry; and she also dabbles in painting now and again. She says, "I guess I have just decided to be me, to share a wee part of me, the things I like, the way I see life, observations and expressions. If anyone likes anything I write or paint, that is a wonderful bonus!”

Monique is married to Paul. They have two sons, Thomas and Martin, two stepdaughters, Pauline and Jennifer, two wee step grandsons, Matthew and Nathan, and a wee King Charles Cavalier called Wallace. Monique and her family live in lovely Paisley, Scotland which is known for being home to many artists, writers, and singers.
