The absolute BEST I can say about the style is that it is "awkward." The whole thing smacks of being the result of trying much too hard -- the story does not FLOW -- it sort of jerks about. THAT SAID, I suggest that Mr. Long invest in four things: an advanced POETRY course, and advanced ENGLISH course, and the two books 1. Leaves of Grass by Walt Whitman, and 2. The Death of Virgil by Herman Broch. These two writers are MY favorite examples of "rolling prose" -- Mr. Long could do no better than to immitate these two masters. A final positive word: KEEP WRITING! This craft takes MUCH practice!
