My name is Zach Watson. I am a 22 year old college student at Eastern Connecticut State University majoring in Communications with a concentration in media writing. My minor, at the moment, is theater. Ever since high school and probably even before hand I have loved to write. Writing to me is the best form of expression. My love for poetry began my junior year of high school when I was learning about the Beat Generation. This sparked something I didn't expect. It sparked a creativity I knew was there but I didn't have an outlet to express myself. Soon after learning about the beatniks I began writing poetry. Since then I continue to write. For the last three years I have performed poetry and continue to craft and learn. I love to hike, bike, and generally stay active. I consider myself a hip hop head but I love to explore other genres. My goal is to keep writing until my hands have enough.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
Since I was a kid I have always wanted to publish a book. Books to me are outlets to new worlds that one may have never gone to before. My motivation to become an indie author was I wanted to cut out the middle man. I wanted to do it on my own. It has always been my day of doing things, DIY.
"The Curious Life of a Romantic Suburban Hip Hop Nerd" is a collection of poetry compiled from 2010 to 2014. The work featured in this collection spans all the way back to Watson’s first semester at Quinebaug Valley Community College in Willimantic, Connecticut to his current second semester at Eastern Connecticut State University. Everything from pop culture to politics to Kanye West.
