What do your fans mean to you?
Fans are the greatest. They are my bread and butter. They are why I do what I do. Being a fan myself in so many ways, I truly appreciate those who really like me.
What are you working on next?
I've got a lot going on, as usual. My next Freddie and Kathy mystery, The Last Witnesses, is in the process of being polished for release in Spring 2017. Stopleak, the sequel to That Old Cloak and Dagger Routine, is being serialized on my blog page now, with the book coming available soon. I've got a science fiction/time travel novel, But World Enough and Time, that may or may not be serialized this winter and spring on the blog page, as well. Finally, I'm getting ready to prep A Ring for a Second Chance, a sequel to a beloved fairy tale, for release in Fall 2017. And if you really want to look down the road, I just finished the rough draft start of a new series set in early Los Angeles called Death of the Zanjero. One constant in my life is that there is plenty to do.
Sid Hackbirn and Lisa Wycherly are partners in a super-secret organization designed to pass information around. Keeping ahead of the various bad guys out to get them is the easy part. Learning to live and work with each other when their respective values are completely opposed, that's the trick.
A night of chaos leads to more murders
Physician and winemaker Maddie Wilcox has always despaired of how violent Los Angeles is. But one night, in October 1871, the pueblo explodes in a riot and eighteen Chinese men are lynched. When two of her field hands are murdered and a third attacked, Maddie has to find out what the killer wants before she loses everything.
Lisa Wycherly work as a spy often gets in her way, but then she gets engaged In the middle of a case, causing her boss and housemate Sid Hackbrin to drop his own bombshell on her. It only gets worse when the case explodes into the worst nightmare.
A compilation of the first five books in the Operation Quickline series, featuring Lisa Wycherly and Sid Hackbirn, agents for an ultra top-secret organization, who may seem like opposites, but have a lot more in common than they think. The set includes That Old Cloak and Dagger Routine, Stopleak, Deceptive Appearances, Fugue in a Minor Key, and Sad Lisa.
It's October, 1870, and once again, violence has disturbed the streets of Los Angeles. This time, City Marshal gets into a gunfight with his deputy Joseph Dye, and is severely wounded. Fortunately, winemaker and physician Maddie Wilcox is on the scene to take care of the marshal. But the next day, she finds that the marshal has been smothered in his bed.
The morning after the marshal's death, red
Lisa Wycherly's nephew Darby is in trouble. She and her boss and partner Sid Hackbirn are in the middle of a hot case trying to sting a ring of employees selling out the defense plant where they work. Then an old friend of Sid's shows up with a kid that looks just like him. Can things get any crazier?
A blind private investigator searches for who killed the owner of an art gallery in this light-hearted mystery. Mrs. Delilah Sperling may not be able to see, but she's an expert at sniffing out murderers.
The color of passion is Blood Red. For Freddie Little, it's not only the color of the family heirloom ruby necklace, it's the color of his deep love for his wife, Kathy. When Kathy wears the gem to a party, relatives and friends see red, and one of them kills Freddie's father But Freddie doesn't want to investigate until the killer threatens and Freddie must fight for all he holds dear.
in Los Angeles in 1870, when Zanjero Bert Rivers' body floats up out of the irrigation ditch, or zanja, winemaker and healing woman Maddie Wilcox finds herself defending the town's most notorious madam. To save the one person she knows is innocent (at least, of the murder), she must find out who killed Bert Rivers, a chase that will tax her intellect, her soul and her very belief in humanity.
In this sequel to a beloved fairy tale, an all-too convenient accident forces a young king and his family into hiding as poor farmers until he can regain his throne. There is a little magic to help out, but will it be enough?
The exciting sequel to Bring Into Bondage. When Honoria Wentworth finds a body in her apartment Freddie Little and Kathy Briscow find themselves caught up in a deadly chase and conspiracy that, no matter how unbelievable, could get them all killed.
The worst has happened. There’s been a leak in the courier system that is Operation Quickline, and Lisa Wycherly and Sid Hackbirn are sent to plug it. This is no straight up investigation. The two are being used as bait for a complex trap. Surviving the challenges to their respective values is hard enough. The bigger challenge will be to stay alive long enough to return to their normal lives.
In 1982, Lisa Wycherly was broke, out of work and desperate. So when Sid Hackbirn offered her a job as his live-in secretary, she jumped at it, little knowing just how dangerous it would be. Sid was a spy for an ultra-top-secret agency and had recruited Lisa to work as his associate. Sid knew he was turning Lisa's life upside-down. He had no clue what she'd do to him.
