When I was young, I used to observe and study the behaviors of others in my own unique ways. I remember one day I created a trap to prevent my brother from entering my room in the mornings to wake me up for school.

“¥ THE TRAP. I rigged a trap by tying a long rope to a lamp, extending all the way to the door of my room. The lamp was positioned about 1 meter above my bed and 2 meters away from the door. I jammed the end of the rope between the door and the wall so that when the door opened, the rope would be released! On the lamp, there were three medals coiled along the rope. These medals were resting on top of an aluminum jar with a pulley, ready to be triggered by the vibrations of the rope. The jar pulley was attached to a dental floss covered in wax, which, with the fluttering of the medals, would cause the jar to slide down the thread at a great speed. The jar would travel all the way from the lamp above my head to the closet handle in front of my bed. Between the closet handle and the dental floss, there was a heavy training ball that would fall when the jar slid. This ball was connected to a string that, once triggered, would pull the trigger of a toy harpoon. The harpoon was attached to my bed, pointing a dart towards the upper part of my door. In practice, when the door was opened, the dart would be released about 2 seconds later, giving my brother enough time to reconsider entering.. But don’t worry, my brother is okay! ;)

As I grew up, I distanced myself from who I used to be, until one day I found myself in a Rehabilitation Centre in South America when I was 17. Fortunately, this place was magical! It was located far away from the city, surrounded only by nature. It was the perfect opportunity for me to retreat from my thoughts and remember who I am. However, it wasn’t until many years of pain and reflection that I started seeing similarities in differences and a universal truth in every choice. That’s when my life started all over again! It was then that I realized that the mind is like smoke that obscures the direction, and behind it all? It’s me, making every choice!
